In 2008, PGA TOUR player Charley Hoffman established the Charley Hoffman Pro-Am to benefit the San Diego Junior Golf Association. The 2009 event at Del Mar Country Cub was a huge success, raising $120,000 for the SDJGA. PGA TOUR Professionals in the field included Phil Mickelson, Pat Perez, Chris Riley, Kevin Stadler, John Schroeder, John Mallinger, Ricky Barnes, Alex Cejka, Bill Hass, Tom Pernice, Chez Reavie, Colt Knost, Ryuji Imada and the 2009 Buick Invitational Champion, Nick Watney.

“I sometimes wonder if I would be where I am today if it wasn’t for junior golf. Not only did I have the opportunity to test my game against the best juniors in the world, I had the opportunity to build relationships with some wonderful people. I truly believe the SDJGA impacted my life in a profound way and that is why I am dedicated to helping ensure the next generation of junior golfers has the same positive experience I did. The proceeds from the Charley Hoffman Pro-Am will assist the SDJGA in providing high quality events and provide financial assistance to those who need it because every junior who wants to play should have the opportunity."

MARVIN K. BROWN AUTO CENTER, and its President Jim Brown, have been long time sponsors of the Marvin K. Brown Match Play Championship and the Marvin K. Brown Championships. In 2003, they began generously underwriting the cost of SDJGA vans that transport our tournament equipment to various sites. Jim Brown was a member of the SDJGA as a youngster and his annual support of the Association reflects his continued belief in golf's ability to positively influence young people's lives. We welcome back Marvin K. Brown Auto Center to our tournament sponsor roster.

The Jeremy Lindsay Memorial is in loving memory of Jeremy Linsday whose life was tragically lost at the age of 22 years-old. Jeremy started playing golf in middle school and quickly fell in love with the game. He joined the San Diego Junior Golf Association when he was 13 years-old and was a four year letter winner at EastLake High School.

The Lindsay Family holds an annual golf event in September to honor Jeremy with the proceeds benefiting the SDJGA. Their hope is that these proceeds will help other young players love and enjoy the game, just as Jeremy did. Please visit www.golfforjeremy.com to learn more about the life of Jeremy Lindsay.

Phil Mickelson has generously underwritten sponsorship of the PHIL MICKELSON JUNIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP since its inception. Phil continues to be one of the SDJGA's most respected and recognized alumni members. Winner of over 23 professional golf titles, including the 2004 Masters Tournament, he and his wife Amy support many worthy causes through their family foundation. The San Diego Junior Golf Association is extremely proud to have had Phil Mickelson as a past member. As stated by himself, the Association was a guiding force in his early development both on and off the course.

Pat Perez North vs. South Team Cup
Pat was a highly competitive member of the SDJGA from 1984 to 1993, and captured the Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championship in 1993. He is now a successful member of the PGA TOUR who attributes his achievements in golf to his father by getting him involved with the SDJGA at an early age."

CHRIS RILEY JUNIOR - Chris Riley has sponsored the CHRIS RILEY JUNIOR for the past few years. In 2004 he began sponsoring the JOHN W. BROWN MEMORIAL. John Brown was not only one of the original founders of the San Diego Junior Golf Association, but was an influential member of the Riley "golfing family" serving as a mentor for Chris and his father Mike (an outstanding amateur player in his own right). Chris wanted to further memorialize "Brownie" with a tournament in his honor. Chris Riley was an exemplary member of the SDJGA going on to become a four-time All-American selection at the University of Las Vegas where he graduated with a Communications Degree in 1996. He is now a member of the PGA TOUR.

DON STADLER MEMORIAL - Betty Stadler has been a long time supporter of the SDJGA since 1997 and remains a member of the Association's Board of Directors. Betty's late husband Don also found time to be an active volunteer while still operating a successful business, Stadler Drug Company in Pacific Beach, California, until his retirement. The Stadler family's many contributions have materially improved SDJGA programs over the years. We are honored to have Betty Stadler (mother of past SDJGA member Craig Stadler) as a continuing sponsor.

JOAN ADASKIN has been a long time supporter of the San Diego Junior Golf Association starting in 1968 when she served in key volunteer positions at the inaugural Junior World Golf Championships. Her interest in playing the game, on a recreational level, led her to Tecolote Canyon Golf Club where she made the acquaintance of Paul Benoit, the facility's Assistant Manager. Paul shared Joan's love of golf as well as baseball, both being Padres' season ticket holders. Upon Mr. Benoit's passing in 1983, Joan began her sponsorship and establishment of the Paul Benoit Memorial Junior. She also created, in 1998, an endowment that will ensure the event's place on the SDJGA schedule of summer tournaments in perpetuity.

Ms. Adaskin also underwrites the presenting of the Tim Robinson Award to any boy or girl who successfully defends a tournament title in the 15-17 Age Division. The SDJGA is richer as an organization from the insights and contributions of individuals such as Joan Adaskin. Her continued support of our goals and objectives is much appreciated.

JOHN WIRGES MEMORIAL - John Wirges a long time friend of the SDJGA, was a publicist at the Naval Training Center. He passed away in May of 1991. During his active participation with the Association, he became a friend to many juniors and Craig Stadler in particular. Craig Stadler began his sponsorship of the John Wirges Memorial in August of 1991.

The CUBIC CORPORATION CLASSIC has been a mainstay on the SDJGA schedule for over 25 years. The tournament more recently has been underwritten by the Walter J. & Betty C. Zable Foundation. This Foundation, named for Cubic founder Walter Zable and his wife, has also been instrumental in funding many SDJGA program upgrades in 2003. Founded in San Diego in 1951, Cubic Corporation's two major segments, Cubic Defense Applications and Cubic Transportation Systems, provide a wide spectrum of products and services to both the military and civilian markets. Cubic Corporation has been traded on the American Stock Exchange since 1959 under the symbol of CUB.
